Octuplets’ mom’s 911 call: ‘I’m going to kill myself!’

“Help me, help me, my son is missing, I’m going crazy,” the dramatic 911 call begins.
An unhinged Nadya Suleman — screaming, hyperventilating and often incoherent — made the call Oct. 17 to report her 5-year-old son missing. Police released the tape today.
“Ok, calm down. What address are you at?” the dispatcher asks, but Suleman ignores her.
“Where’s my son? Where’s my son? Where’s my son? Where’s my son? My son?”
For those who think the octuplets’ mom will be unable to cope with 14 kids (she had only six at the time), the tape will sound like vindication.
“Oh my God, I’m going to die,” she says, repeating, “God help me,” five times then launching into ”Oh God, I’m going to kill myself,” five times.
The dispatcher finally interrupts: “Don’t say that in front of your other child, OK?”
The dramatic ordeal ends as suddenly as it started when a hysterical Suleman announces, “He went on a walk and came back by himself.”
The confused dispatcher asks, “So he’s back?”
But Suleman is just sobbing and wailing loudly … listen to the tape here:

This makes this whole story crystal clear to me. She has serious issues and should not have any of her children unless she is supervised. She clearly cannot even keep track of 6 much less 14. Please someone take these children from her.
Before one of them is killed, abducted, molested or just runs away for this god awful mother.
And this woman can’t understand why the hospital won’t give her the babies. Seriously, the county needs to step in and take the children out of her care, even the ones at home. She needs to be locked up in a mental ward.

so, is there a user agreement for 911 that says they can record and retain any call they want and release it anytime they want in an attempt to embarass you? i don’t see how releasing this tape is any more ethical than say the medical staff snooping through brittany spears’ medical records while she was hospitalized. i guess if society in general doesn’t approve of your choices, then she gives up any right to privacy? i agree that she’s nuts and authorities need to look out for all the 14 kids, but she also deserves some privacy.

Not that I am defending her but her son is diagnosed with Autism. Kids with Autism are known to run (elope) when you least expect it. I think this phone call was from a desperate mom who didnt know where to turn. Until you have a child with Autism you will never know what it is like to care for one. 911 can legally be recorded in CA, and even a few states mandate it. And the police do not choose to release the recordings to embarrass the caller. The media obtains the 911 recordings, which are legally public information, through the Freedom Of Information Act. Happens all the time, just watch the news and see.
I think it’s hysterical OCR keeps changing from calling her “Octuplet Mom” to “Octomom” from day to day. Even the old article headlines change!!!

GDB, No, there is no “user agreement”. 911 tapes become public record unless they are retained as evidence by the authorities. Medical records are completely different and may not be released without consent.
Either way, Octomom needs help - with herself, and her children. The million dollar question is: Was the article written and 911 tape scrounged up to solicit assistance?
And this is just the beginning! When is the next litter due?
God help us. I hope that the state takes these kids away. She is a totally inept mother and these kids are in grave danger with her.
I wrote Kaiser and pleaded with them to find out where the money is that Nadya has been getting from the media for the interview and intercept it to pay for her medical bills. If Nadya is making 6 figures for an interview or for her pictures WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DAMN MEDICAL BILLS? MAKE HER PAY THEM! Please, folks. Write Kaiser and demand that they make her pay for her own medical bills. DON’T PASS THEM ALONG TO THE STATE AND BILL US!

Please remember that if this was in October of last year she would have been pregnant. And as far as I know, when women are pregnant their hormones and emotions are way to out of sync. Andrea makes a very valid point as well. Autistic children are NOT easy children to raise. And then if you combine the two? I mean put yourself in her shoes. Just in that moment. Forget for two seconds that she has artificially inseminated herself, but think that; she pregnant, her hormones are out of whack, she trying to take care of six children and one of them is autistic. If she had a husband, granted it would be easier. But it could very well be that this could have happened when he was at work. I say stop bashing her because she wanted one more, but came out with eight. It’s not like life is a restaurant and you can order what you like. She didn’t ask for eight. She asked for another child. Not a litter. So stop picking on her.

Hey, just to add in on the comment about mandated reports and junk, as long as the calls are not part of an on-going criminal or civil investigation, they are released to the public, which includes press. It’s not the police departments fault as to who and how the press chooses to release the tapes, it is only their duty to protect everyone’s rights that make them available.

Why don’t you put your money where your mouth is and help her with her privacy. maybe you can move in and be a caretaker. who cares about her privacy. there are 14 of my fellow humans that are about to have years of insanity paid for by taxpayers and living with a delusional and most likely dangerous mom. the situation reminds me of our how our current members of the state GOP assembly and we taxpayers being the kids.

The kids will probably be removed from the home within a year or two because this woman is mentally ill; and will be shown to be unable to adequately provide for their material and emotional needs. In a word, she will be charged with negligence.

Look at the future in this. kids will not get enough help with there home work ,flunk out of school and while pushing a grocery basket down an alley way to dig for food or cloths they can always think back good lord my mom was a total idiot .

ANDREA…..if the child is 5 years old and has Autism, then she should have been watching him more closesly, don’t you think? She should have been committed before she was able to breed! The Dr. that did this should be in an adjoining room. Those children deserve better, but the sad part is, that means multiple sets of twins, and now octuplet are going to be separated from their siblings……she obviously can’t handle them.

I have major issues with Fertility Treatments, Vitro Fertilization, Egg donation, Designer Babies etc.
I am not against Science but this stuff freaks me out.
I feel sorry for people who cannot have kids but this is playing with Nature.
I know two families who had babies this way. The first family wanted a Son already they had two daughters.
The two daughters were born the natural way they are healthy and beautiful. But the son is cute but very different. And the mother had major health problems going through the treatment.
And the second family couldn’t have a baby for 12 yrs so they went through the treatment and now have 2 beautiful kids. The kids are 2 years old all I can say is they are very different, and are cared by grandparents, because the mother has major mental problems from the Fertility Treatments.
That is just two families I know personally. This woman had 6 other kids how many are normal.

She’s crazy! These tapes prove that she will be an unfit mother. There is no way that she can care for fourteen kids. I just heard on TV that a video of the babies being borning is for sale for one million. I hope she intends to use that money to pay the hospital bills. I pray that the county welfare put a lien on the money before she spends it.
This recording took me back 22 years when my son toddled around the corner in a shoe store and for an instant I lost him. I am no fan of
Nadya Suleman but I can certainly relate to the hysteria in that phone call. Any mother that has ever encountered that type of circumstance can understand what was going through her mind. The media needs to stop chastising this woman for sensationalism purposes. They are only making a difficult matter worse.

Warren- A video of the 8 babies being born is available? Really?! I think that must be untrue. I had my tater tot via c-section at a Kaiser hospital just last year and they expressly forbid video during a c-section. I guess for liability reasons or something. . .probably brought on by a lawsuit they had at some point.
I realize the normal rules (work & earn a good living BEFORE having any kids - let alone having 14 of them) don’t apply to octomom, but I doubt the hospital would allow her to have video during her c-section just because she’s the octomom.
What does take for the authorities to step in? She craves attention and when doesn’t get it she steps up the drama to the next level. She is going to hurt someone, or worse.

First: Little bit of an inflammatory headline. How many times has any one of you said, “Oh my God, if I don’t _______[fill in the blank] I’m just going to kill myself/die?” I would think that “misplacing” a child while you’re pregnant (and basically a slave to your hormones) would be a pretty stressful situation and you may say some things you didn’t literally mean. (I probably wouldn’t say them to a 9-1-1 operator though, knowing those calls are recorded.)
Second: That said, this broad is nuts.
Third: I’m tired of her fake celebrity status and having carp like this reported about her. The real solution to the problem (i.e., her) is to actually do something about what is clearly mental illness and get those kids away from her before something really bad happens, not create these sensationalized headlines and add more fuel to the fire. I really hope Social Services is actually doing something about this. And yes, I suppose I’m also guilty of adding fuel to the fire by posting to this blog. So I’m going to stop now. Not sure what the drama is all about. All factors indicate she will never bring these babies home. Rejecting Gloria Allred’s offer of round the clock nursing care and other benefits for those babies was downright foolish; I heard Suleman would have had to give up any hopes for a reality show. Whether you love or hate Allred, she is a powerful force to have in your corner. I would have gotten down on my knees and wept tears of thanks if I had received an offer like that; I’d get help taking care of my beloved babies, they’d be safe and wouldn’t go hungry. The babies go to foster care, and Suleman drifts into obscurity….a likely conclusion to this story. I believe Suleman truly needs extensive professional help in a private setting with a competent psychiatrist.
Justification that 14 responsible couples, wanting to adopt, should get these kids.
I wish one of the vote options would have been ‘needs psychiatric help and her children removed from the home’. This woman is clearly delusional and those children need homes that provide for them. She really can’t get the job done.
She is going to end up being a star because people are starting to reject the career-woman, man hating, child hating lesbian-consumer lifestyle that tricked so many women into empty lives.
When this super-mom is old and gray, she will have 14 to take care of her, while the modern-woman will be destitute and alone with her now outdated expensive handbag to care for her.
I agree with the posters regarding the sensationalism of this story; it needs to go away. It has become a verbal public stoning. I don’t personally care for this woman, but IMHO she appears to have profound mental issues, and it’s become like schoolyard bullying, picking on a challenged kid. The focus needs to be on doing what is best for these poor children PRIVATELY, with competent professional help. No more media circus.
Gods baby, you feel that people should aspire to be more like her. She does not care about family or about her children if she did she would have been fine raising her six without needing to have more. not every woman is out there worrying about material things. it comes down to she is absolutly selfish she had kids because she wanted some one to love her, yet how will she have time for her children. As a parent you have a job to make sure your children are well taken care of, three out of six of her children are disabled that already takes a significant amount of her time. Having had invitro these eight are at high risk of being disabled as well, or challenged. but then to give each one of these fourteen children the one on one time that they need, to say that she should be looked at as a good example to what women should want to be like is very disturbing. children need a parent that can make the correct choices and set a good example obviously she does not have her childrens best intrest at heart, and then it makes me wonder why she was not happy with her other six children and had to have more? it is not because she has a big heart and that she loves them, if she did she would not be being so selfish. If it was gods will for her to have children he would have made it so, invitro is not gods will.
By my calculations, if this was in October, then she was heavily pregnant with eight babies. Hormones in overdrive. Autistic child of two disappears without her knowing where he is? Two year olds die in accidents in seconds, we know that from the number who fall in pools or washing machines, or who get run over. Fine. She was probably legitimate for stress.
That being said, she is an attentionwhore drama queen, and clearly two tacos shy of a complete combination platter. Someone please put this girl in an institution and find some loving families to care for these poor kids.

OC must help her and the children no matter what. (Though she’s insane, crazy, mental ill, or whatever you named it). It’s a done deal! Nothing that OC can ignore her case.
County should not take away any kids from her, but should “hire” helpers to help her and those kids in daily basis. She’s insane to have too many kids, but she loves her kids. She didn’t miss treat a single one. The kids also love their mother. She can’t take care them at once that doesn’t mean she lost the mother’s right. None of the kids should be separate from their family.

It’s true that the woman needs help but you must recognize her rights to look after their children, and these children deserve to be aided and protected as a basic human right. So the first option is not to take her children away without her consentment but to help her to raise them and try to persuade her to give in adoption some or most of the newborn kids.
So, why are you crying about your condition of Tax payer, you don’t know when other people’s taxes will help especially and expensively to you, and that’s OK, It’s something called Solidarity.
If she wasn’t histerical about losing her child I would be worried about her mental health. How can you judge anyone for how they react when their child is missing?
TARYNTEE - The child was 5 years old (not that it matters the age) but if she has an Autistic Child then SHE SHOULD BE PAYING MORE ATTENTION, NOT MAKING 8 MORE BABIES……I don’t care what her “hormones” were doing, she had six children at the time…….You have to put your HORMONAL BS aside and take care of your kids. I have children and know it’s tough, but I did it the real way, I have 3 year old triplets, a 5 year old and a 7 year old……..There wasn’t even time for morning sickness…..YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR CHILDREN AND KNOW WHERE THEY ARE AT ALL TIMES, especially an autistic boy.
