Jessica LaLonde told her dad for the longest time that she sold candles. One day he told her he knew what she really sold. He didn’t want to actually speak it, but he knew: His daugthter was (dun, dun, dun, dun) The Love Lady.
And now everyone will know. At least everyone who watches “The Doctors.” The 1998 Fountain Valley High grad will be on the channel 9 talk show today (Tuesday Jan. 13), a segement teased as “secrets of the suburbs” along with a snippet of her in action at a Huntington Beach house full of giggling moms.
I actually attended one of Jessica’s parties myself for a story. It was just before Christmas. “Toys, toys, toys,” the hostess, wearing a proper apron, shouted out to her guests, about 60 fit looking women, all talking at once, sipping martinis and gobbling sweets. “Santa’s coming!” (There’s the hostess on the left looking awfully suprised by something she sees).
When Jessica signed up for her first party and got her kit in the mail, she was, in her words, “completely freaked out.” And who wouldn’t be. One of the items she sells is called ”turtle frenzy.”
“There were things I didn’t even want to touch.” she says. That first party, she referred to certain body parts as “thingys.” She admits that even now, a few years later, she hasn’t actually used all the products she sells. “There’s certain categories I won’t venture into.”
Her dad’s Mormon. Her father-in-law is a pastor. And she has four children under the age of 10. She keeps her sample products locked in a suitcase at home.
“I’ve had women come to my parties straight from Bible study,” Jessica says. “The reason I’m here is to promote intimacy between couples.”
She says that many of the moms she caters to have children (that’s code for overworked and underrested), so they’re in need of a jump-start. And in fact, one of the the products she sells does tout ”a superior japanese motor.”
“I pride myself on making the parties tasteful,” she insists. It’s quite a feat when you’re demonstrating how Da Bomb is ”ergonomically correct.”
As products were passed around, some women treated them like a hot potato. But clearly not everyone is afraid. Jessica’s team (she has dozens of women under her hosting parties now) hit $1 million in sales in 2008 (before December, no less).
It’s nothing like her Pampered Chef party days. This year she netted $75,000 plus a car bonus. That’s a lot of candles.

That is a wonderful story.
What a great service Jessica is providing to the women of OC! Keep it girl!

Belonging to a VERY conservative family and raised in the church, I was very hesitant to attend a Passion Party. After declining an invite to 3 parties that my friends hosted, I decided to give it a try. I’m married and I have sex… what’s the harm in learning some tips to spice things up? Well, I was pleasantly surprised! I learned A LOT about romance and communication in the bedroom. I also learned that this “taboo” topic is a great way to bond with your girlfriends!
Since my first Passion Party, I’ve hosted several of my own with “The Love Lady”. I highly recommend her! I love all of her products and shop online frequently on her website!
may be this is the way to move ahead with it.
Great story Lor - does Jessica travel to East Coast?
